Solutions
1. Let the required number be x,
Then (30/100) x =12.6, or x= (12.6 x 100)/30 = 42
:. Required number is =42

2. Sol: Let the four numbers be x, x+2, x+4 & x+6
Then total sum =(27x4) = 108, x + x+ 2 +x +4 + x +6 =108 or 4x =96 or x=24

:. Largest number = (x + 6) = 30

3. Sol : Let ten's digit =x. Then unit's digit = (9 - x)
10x + (9 - x) - 63 = 10(9 - x) + x or 9x - 53 = 90 - 9x
or 18x = 144 or x= s
:. Ten's Digit = 8, and unit,s digit = 1
Hence, the required number is 81

4. Sol: Let the required fraction be x/y then,
(x +1)/ (y + 1) =2/3 => 3x - 2y = -1 ......(i)
and (x - 1) / (y - 1) = 1/2 => 2x - y =1 .......(ii)
Solving (i) & (ii), we get x=3, y =5
:. required fraction = 3/5

5. Sol: x - 4x/7 = 18 => x = (18 x 7)/3 = 42

6. Sol: x - 4x/7 = 18 => x = (18 x 7)/3 = 42

7. Let X – 6% of X =XZ then 94% of X is =XZ

8. (8/100)X =(4/100)Y => X = 1/2Y

:. 20& of X = 20% of 1/2Y = 10% of Y

9. Let Total number of Oranges be X
20% of X=35 => (20/100)xX=35
X=(35x5) =175

10. Let the total number of students be X
Number of girls is 30% of X=504 => (30/100)X = 504 X= [ 504 x (100/30)] = 1680
No of boys = 70% of 1680 = 1176

11. 40% of X =178+22 or (40/100)X=200
or X=500

12. Let X be total paint required in Kg
15% of X +25 = X => X- X = 25
or X=(25x20)/17 =29.41 or 30Kg
So he must purchase 15 cans
Total Cost = Rs.(16 x15) = Rs.240

13. Let X be the original price of the dining table
87.5% of X = 4375 => (87.5/100)X =4375
X = 5000

14. Hindi Books = 20% of X =(20/100)X =X/5
Remaining Books = [X -X/5] = 4X/5
English Books 50% of 4X/5 = 2x/5
Remaining [4X/5 – 2X/5] = 2X/5
2X/5 = 9000 or X=22500

15. House Rent =(35/100)X =7X/20 Remaining = [X - 7X/20] =13X/20
Other Expenditure = [(75/100) x (13X/20) = 39X/80
Saving = [(13X/20 - 39X/80] = 13X/80
Saving Percentage = [(13X/80) x (1/x) x 100] = 65/4% =16.25%
