1. Let x be the total number of marks 36% of x= 200+ 16 = 216
=> x= 216/36 x100 =600 Total number of marks = 600

2. Let x be the number :. 50%x + 45 =x, 0.5x +45 =x => 45= x- 0.5x=0.5x= 50% x
:. x= (45x100)/50 =90

3. Let the third proportion be 'x' :. 12:30 :: 30:x i.e 12/30 = 30/x => X x 12= 30 x 30
:. x= (30 x 30)/12 = 75

4. Greater number = 420 x [4/(4+3)] = 420 x (4/7) =240

5. Let their ages be 2x and 3x years (2x +12) / (3x+12) = 11/15; 15( 2x+12) = 11( 3x+12)
30x + 180 = 33x + 132 180 - 132= 33x - 30x 48=3x => x= 48/3 = 16

6. Ratio of shares of Venkat, Madan and suman are (10000 x 12) : (15000 x 4) : (5000 x8)
= 12 : 6: 4 = 6 :3 :2 :. Share of suman = Rs. 6600 x { 2/ (6+3+2) } = 6600 x (2/11)
= Rs. 1200

7. (1 - 0.25)( 1-0.20)(1 - 0.05) x 100 =0.75 x 0.80 x 0.95 x 100 = Rs. 57
:. Single discount = (100 -57)% =43%

8. Let C.P = Rs 100 Marked price= Rs.125, discount=12% :. S.P. = 88% of Rs. 125
= (88/100) x 125 = 110 :. Gain= (110 - 100)% = 10%

9. (Hint: Whatever be the value of S.P., there exists a loss always in such type of questions)
:. loss% = (15/10) square = 225/100 = 2.25%

10. Income = (Stock x Rate) /100 = (3600 x 8) /100 = Rs. 288

11. Cost of 1 share = { (20 - 2/5) + 1/5} = Rs. (98/5 + 1/5) = Rs. 99/5
:. Cost of 55 shares = Rs. (99/5) x 55 = Rs. 1089

12. Annual dividend = Rs. 5 x 4 = Rs. 20 per share :. Total annual dividend for 250 shares
= 250 x 20 = Rs. 5000

13. Let the annual rent be Rs.1 and pays Rs. 40 for purchasing land.
:. rate % = (1x100)/(40x1) =25%

14. C.I - S.I. = 5 x R1 x R2/ 100 sq. = (10000 x 15 x 14) / 100 sq. = Rs. 210

15. Average score before 12th innings = 90 -5 x 12 = 30
:. Average score after 12th innings = 30 + 5= 35

16. Let 'x' be the no. of all the workers including supervisors :. 50x = (x-10) x 40 x (10x500)
50x = 40x - 400 + 5000 50x = 40x -400 + 5000 => 10x = 4600 => x= 460

17. Avarage of new numbers = 15 x 6 = 90

18. Since efficiency ratio of man and woman is 14 : 11, this means the woman does in 11/25 of the work in 33 days :. She can do the whole work in 33 x 25/11 days = 75 days

19. 30 men ----- 30 days i.e. 1 man ----- 900 days
Let 10 men leave after x days i.e. accordingly the question 30 men do the work in x days and there after only 20 men could do the remaining work in (40 - x) days.
:. 30x + 10( 40 -x) = 900 30x + 400 - 10x =900 :. x = 500/20 = 25days

20. Length of the train + length of tunnel = distance travelled in 1 min at 50 Kmph
:. Length of train + 300 = 60 x 54 x (5/18) = 900 900 - 300 = 600 m

21. Total distance travelled in 6 hrs at 35 kmph = 6 x 35 x 1000
:. No of poles = (6x35x1000)/60 =3500

22. The time taken in stopping per hour is the same as the time to travel a further distance of (75 - 50)km at the rate of 75 kmph
:. The train stops per hour = 25/75 = 1/3 hr or 20 min

23. Average money received by each = 82/100 = 82 paise
By allegation rule Ratio of boys and girls = 34/16 = 17/8 = 17 : 8

24. Circumference of a circle = 2.2 x 1000 / 630 i.r 2II r = 2200/630
:. r = (2200/630) x (1/2) x (7/22) x 100 cm = 55.55 cm

25. Area of a trapezium = 1/2 x 6 x (10 + 20) = 90 Sq. cm

26. Length of the longest pole is the diagonal = Sq. root of ( 20 sq. + 15sq.) = 25m

27. No. of cubical blocks = Vol of big cube / vol of small cube = (24 x 24 x 24) / (6 x 6 x 6) = 64

28. 2IIrh = 792, II x (rsq.) x h= 2772 :. r/2 = 7/2 => r =7 cm

29. No. of bullets = vol. of rectangular block/ vol. of the spherical bullet = 8400

30. Area of the equilateral triangle is = Root 3/4 (side) = 3 root3/4 cm sq.
